Dear Friends,

I want to remind everybody about our public town hall meetings Saturday morning at the Ocean City Tabernacle, 550 Wesley Ave.

The first session at 9:30 a.m. will provide updates on our bayside dredging plans. The presenters will be available to answer individual questions following the presentation. A second session at 11 a.m. will address island-wide flood mitigation plans – again followed by time for individual questions.

Representatives of ACT Engineers will join city team members in making the presentations. ACT administers Ocean City’s bayside dredging program and is working on a Flood Mitigation and Drainage Master Plan. I encourage all Ocean City property owners to attend to learn more about these initiatives.

Next week’s City Council meeting on Thursday (Oct. 24) will have an early start time at 5 p.m. to avoid a conflict with our annual Halloween Parade at 7 p.m. A full agenda includes items related to affordable housing, bonding for capital projects, and zoning.

New Jersey American Water is continuing its work to replace the sanitary sewer lines leading to the Municipal Utilities Authority pumping station at the intersection of Third Street and West Avenue.

The entire intersection will be closed to traffic through next week. Please seek alternate routes to West Avenue from Second Street to Fourth Street. As always, I thank you for your patience and understanding as this important work is completed.

I want to welcome all of the owners who are in town for the Porsche Boardwalk Reunion. Porsche models from 1948 to the present will be on display on the Boardwalk starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.

I also want to encourage everybody to consider joining the John R. Elliott HERO Walk or 5K Run on Sunday morning. The event promotes the use of sober designated drivers, and more information is available at www.herocampaign.org.

Warm regards,

Mayor Jay A. Gillian
