Dear Friends,

Concrete gutter work on West Avenue near First Street should be complete by Monday, and the NJAW contractor is paving 35th Street today to allow for the full reopening of West Avenue by the weekend (as part of this project, the tennis courts at 34th Street will be closed Monday to Thursday next week).

Paving on West Avenue from 26th Street to 34th Street is expected to begin Monday and be done by the end of the week.

Work on the flood mitigation project for West 17th Street remains on track to begin early in the new year, and City Council will vote Dec. 27 on awarding a design contract for the next phase of flood mitigation work for Merion Park.

Work on the city’s 2021-22 bayside dredging program will begin next week and will include maintenance dredging in waterways and lagoons throughout Ocean City. Information on dredging private slips is available here.

The results of our Holiday House Decorating Contest are in. You can see addresses for the winners and all participants here: www.ocnj.us/HolidayHouseDecorating. I want to thank all of the residents who decorated to make the town so festive for the holidays.

If you haven’t finished your shopping yet, please remember to buy local. Our local merchants have been hard at work, and you don’t need to leave Ocean City to find a unique gift for anyone.

Seasonal beach tags for summer 2022 are on sale now at store.ocnj.us, and First Night buttons are on sale at firstnightocnj.com

I hope you all have a great weekend with family and friends.

Warm regards,
Mayor Jay A. Gillian
