The Humane Society of Ocean City hopes that families will come out for “Grateful Pets” a fun night of great music, food and entertainment to raise money for the shelter animals.
The fundraiser will be held Saturday night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Somers Point Fire Hall, New Jersey Ave. Dead Reckoning, a Grateful Dead tribute band, will be performing.
Tickets are $25 a person.
All the proceeds go to the special needs animals at the shelter. There are several cats with thyroid issues, a heartworm positive dog named Ginger and Roscoe, the shelter’s mascot, a dog with medical needs, Bill Hollingsworth, executive director of the HSOC, said.
He said the shelter staff is very appreciative of the band donating their time to helping animals as well as the people who come out for the event.
The HSOC raised $2,500 last year and $2,500 the first year of the event. Hollingsworth said they would like to raise even more this year.
