The white tent looked just like any of the 70 others in the Boardwalk Art Show Aug. 1 to 3 in Ocean City, but local videographer John Thornton took a deeper view and came up with this eight-minute film that tells the story behind one artist: Jim Spillane and his photographs.

Spillane’s images tell the story of different cultures, a common language and a universal responsibility, and Thornton’s film succinctly captures Spillane’s art and world view.

Thornton is a resident of the south end of Ocean City whose videos in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy captivated many in Ocean City.
