Suzanne McGovern is a Senior Advisor in the Office of Investor Education and Advocacy at the Securities and Exchange Commission. She has been with the agency for 16 years, most recently as an Assistant Director of the Broker-Dealer Exam Program in the Office of Compliance, Inspections, and Examinations, responsible for examining broker-dealers, investment advisers, and other market participants. She led a team in creating an exam program for Municipal Advisor, required under Dodd Frank. She was also responsible for agency-wide initiatives to protect Senior Investors, coordinated focus on anti-money laundering issues, the ETF market, among others. Suzanne came to the Commission with years of experience in the securities industry that includes management, compliance, operations, trading and sales. She has held several securities licenses including the Series 3 (commodities), Series 7(broker), Series 8/9(management), Series 63 (all-state), and Series 65 (investment advisor). Suzanne graduated from Denison University with a B.A. in Economics and has been the recipient of several awards at the SEC, including the Law and Policy Award, Excellence in Leadership, and two Chairman’s Award for Excellence.
