Downtown “Earlier Than the Bird” Celebration Set for Saturday

The early forecast calls for clear weather on Saturday – ideal conditions to kick off the holiday season along downtown Asbury Avenue. In Ocean City, that means shopping in your pajamas for the Earlier Than the Bird celebration. The annual downtown shopping extravaganza takes place 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 20 – the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Anybody (pajama-clad or not) can take advantage of early-bird shopping specials at stores on Asbury Avenue between Sixth Street and 14th Street.

Ocean City’s Holiday Spectacular Returns in December

This season the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company invites everyone to come celebrate the most wonderful time of the year at “Swingin’ Into The Holidays,” Ocean City’s holiday spectacular. The cast of professional singers and dancers will present a high-energy, family–oriented, song and dance tribute to the holidays, directed and choreographed by Elizabeth Worley and Michael Hartman. Little Girl Struck and Killed in Ocean City

A 4-year-old girl died of her injuries after being struck by a vehicle Saturday in the vicinity of West Inlet Road and West Atlantic Boulevard in Ocean City. The accident occurred at 10:56 a.m. It is under investigation by the Ocean City Police Department and Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.

Mayor’s Message: Nov. 12

Mayor Jay Gillian is extending his thanks to all of the participants in Ocean City's annual Veterans Day ceremony. Among those he thanked are Ocean City Primary School students who made cards honoring the veterans. "There is so much they can learn from the men and women who have served our country, and so much our veterans can learn from them," Gillian said of the students in his weekly message to the public Friday. Ocean City Salutes Those Who Served

What is it like to be in the presence of our country’s greatest heroes from World War II, Vietnam and Afghanistan on Veterans Day? It is a reminder that we should never forget America’s history. It is a reminder that our gratitude and respect for our veterans must endure forever. It is a reminder to thank a veteran every day for their service. On Thursday, Ocean City’s Veterans Day ceremony was held at Veterans Memorial Park near the Ocean City Tabernacle at Fifth Street and Wesley Avenue. Over 100 community members, military families, friends and, most importantly, our nation’s veterans, joined together under beautiful sunny skies in spring-like weather.

Concerned Parents Seek Answers From School District

The Ocean City School District hosted a Community Forum at the Ocean City Public Library on Tuesday evening. The event was moderated by interim Superintendent, Dr. Thomas Baruffi. The forum’s objective was to focus on various topics concerning the school district. The largely attended event got contentious at times as the subject of mask mandates drew the ire of many in the crowd.

Moorestown Tops Ocean City in Field Hockey Playoff Final

The Ocean City field hockey team ended the season with a 2-0 loss to Moorestown in the Group 3 South playoff final.  Ocean City opened up the first two quarters of play with dominant possession, but was unable to find the back of the cage.

Ocean City Girls Soccer Falls in Playoffs

The Ocean City girls soccer team ended their season with a Group 3 South semifinal playoff loss to visiting Mainland by falling in penalty kicks 3-2. The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, setting up another overtime game against the conference rival Mustangs. This time, the game went into penalty kicks, which Mainland won with a 3-2 advantage.
