All O.C. Schools to Open For In-Person Instruction in April

The Ocean City School District announced Tuesday that starting on April 12, doors will open for all students to attend in-person instruction. The news comes just after the one-year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic school shutdown. Schools Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Taylor explained in a letter Tuesday that the district leaders, members of the Board of Education and the community have been working tirelessly as a team to develop new habits and routines to enable all students to return back to in-person teaching in a timely manner.

Van Drew Responds to Alleged Death Threats From Columnist

U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew released the audio of an alleged death threat Ocean City columnist John McCall, a longtime member of the New Jersey Press Association, recently left on his home phone while he was in Washington. Van Drew also blasted the Ocean City Sentinel for publishing columns, before and after, in which McCall insinuates Van Drew should be executed for treason.

Ocean City History: Virtual Trivia Night

How well do you know Ocean City’s history? On Wednesday, March 31, at 7 p.m. you’ll have a chance to find out. From the Boardwalk and beaches to City Hall and Hollywood stars, come test your knowledge of “America’s Greatest Family Resort” with six rounds of Virtual Trivia. Easter Events Planned for Ocean City

Ocean City is planning to open the 2021 season with a number of safe events for families. “Health and safety will always be our top priority, and we’re looking forward to the return of as many events as possible this year,” Mayor Jay Gillian said in a press release Friday. Each event will be in full compliance with current public health guidelines and require masks and social distancing. A listing of events follows.

O.C. Arts Center to Host Juried Photography Show

Whether you are a professional or amateur photographer, the Ocean City Arts Center is accepting photos, Saturday, March 13 through Monday, March 29, for the Annual Juried Photography Show. All entries must be delivered to the Ocean City Arts Center, in the Community Center at 1735 Simpson Avenue. The photographs that are chosen will hang in the gallery April 1 through April 30.

O.C. Museum Hosts Virtual Program For Women’s History Month

On Tuesday, March 23 at 7 p.m. the Ocean City Historical Museum will present a free virtual program celebrating the life of New Jersey native Alice Paul. Paul was one of the most influential women in 20th century America, leading the final fight for women’s suffrage and championing equal rights for women through most of the 20th century.
