Under sun splashed skies, the Ocean City High School Crew teams held a ceremony at the 34th Street boat dock Saturday afternoon honoring four families who have supported the program since its inception, by naming four boats after them. The Ocean City American Legion Morvay-Miley Post 524 will be the first in the country to offer a medical service that will help members get the care they need with the convenience of it close to home. The new service, telehealth, is part of a Veteran Affairs pilot program and will be available through appointment at the American Legion, 46th Street and West Avenue. American Legion 524 Celebrates Grand Opening of New Headquarters

Bill Cruice was commander of American Legion Morvay-Miley Post 524 in 2000, when he organized a drive for the veterans to have a meeting place, one where they could share their memories, enjoy camaraderie and hold events. On Saturday, the 84-year-old reflected on how he and other post members, there were 30 at the time, knocked on doors and began the long journey to having their own building. Two Ocean City School Principals Awarded for Excellence

Haines won the Healthy Educator Award through AtlantiCare’s Healthy Schools, Healthy Children initiative for his efforts to instill healthy behaviors and attitudes in the Intermediate School’s student and staff populations. He has helped initiate Mindful Mondays at the school, during which the entire student body takes time to breathe and meditate at the start of the school day. For both students and staff, Haines has led the introduction of yoga, which is supported by a Sustainable Jersey for Schools Health and Wellness Grant. With its Sustainable Jersey funding, the Ocean City Intermediate School (OCIS) has started offering after-school yoga lessons to students in fourth through eighth grades.
