Starting Wednesday morning (Nov. 18), the Ocean City Aquatic and Fitness Center will open an hour earlier to accommodate members who want to fit workouts into a busy daily schedule.
The city-owned facility will be open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays on an experimental basis. The center had opened at 6 a.m. on weekdays.
Community Services Director Michael Allegretto said Tuesday that the city had received a written request signed by several members in favor of the additional pre-workday hours. He said the city will look at attendance records and re-assess the decision sometime around the holidays.
The center includes a 25-meter pool and an extensive weight and fitness equipment facility. It is open to paid members and daily visitors.
Saturday hours remain 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday hours 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
