Ocean City High School Surf Team competed in huge surf today in the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) Northeast Championships in Spring Lake, NJ. The competition began right after sunrise with qualifying high school teams, totaling more than 200 surfers, competed for top honors in short board and longboard categories for both men and women.
Three of our OC surfers made it to the finals. Senior AJ Oves placed second overall for longboard. Junior Joey Kelly placed second overall for the men’s short board. And freshman Marin Panico placed fifth overall for women’s short board.
Several of our OCHS surfers advanced to qualifying rounds, including senior Sam Oliva, Luke Bowman, Randy Young, Doug Raab & Charlie Dahl.
Ocean City High School Surf Team placed second overall. Manasquan High School took top honors.
It was another outstanding season led by Head Coach Mark Meidama and Assistant Coach Chris Oliva.
