Ocean City mayoral candidates to debate on April 28

  • Politics

The public is invited to a political debate Tuesday, April 28, between the three candidates running for mayor in Ocean City’s municipal election.

Fideri News Network, the parent company of OCNJDaily.com and other affiliated news sites in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, will sponsor the debate in partnership with the Ocean City Tabernacle.

The debate will start at 6 p.m. in the Tabernacle auditorium and is scheduled to run for 60 to 75 minutes. The Tabernacle is located at 550 Wesley Ave. in Ocean City. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. There is no admission charge.

The candidates will include Mayor Jay Gillian, Keith Hartzell and Pete Madden. Hartzell and Madden currently serve on City Council, but are challenging Gillian for mayor in the May 12 municipal election.

The candidates will have the opportunity to make an opening and closing statement and will be asked a series of questions by the debate moderators during the forum.

The Tabernacle will livestream the debate, which will be carried through Fideri News Network’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@FideriNewsNetwork.

Members of the public who plan to attend the debate have the option of registering online, which will give them the opportunity to submit questions that may be asked of the candidates by the moderators.

Registration is free and can be done by visiting https://myphillytickets.com/e/ocean-city-election-debate or by scanning the QR code below.

The debate is open to all media for coverage.

Following the debate, there will be a reception in the Tabernacle’s front lobby. The reception is open to the public.
