  • News
Sand and seawater fly from a pipeline rebuilding the beach at 52nd Street in Ocean City, NJ on Tuesday, May 26. Check OCNJ Daily for updates and photos of the Ocean City beach replenishment project for 2015 in the south end between 36th and 59th Streets. DATE: Tuesday, May 26 PROGRESS: As of Tuesday evening, the fence marking the edge of beach replenishment work was just south of the 51st Street beach entrance. Sand-pumping operations were continuing full-bore at 52nd Street. Access to the beaches at 52nd and 53rd streets is closed. Bulldozers are reshaping the sand berm created by the city in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy to create an entirely new dune structure. The first two phases of the project (from 42nd Street to 37th Street, then from 42nd Street to 47th Street) are complete. WHAT’S NEXT:
The project will proceed from 52nd Street to 47th Street (mid-May to mid-June), then from 55th to 59th (mid-June to mid-July). READ MORE: Ocean City NJ Beach Replenishment 2015 Daily Update FOR DAILY UPDATES by E-MAIL: Sign up for free
