One person suffered serious burns Friday afternoon in a fire that broke out on a boat parked on a trailer in Ocean City.
Firefighters rushed to the scene at 32nd Street and Bay Avenue shortly after 1 p.m.
“Upon arrival, fire department personnel confirmed a significant fire involving a boat on a trailer parked along the roadway, as well as one individual requiring advanced life support medical care for significant burn injuries,” according to a news release.
The victim was treated at the scene by fire and police personnel before being airlifted from Ocean City Municipal Airport to the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital burn unit and trauma center in Philadelphia.
The person’s name and condition were not immediately released.
The Ocean City Fire Department quickly extinguished the blaze, which was contained to the boat. The origin and cause of the fire are not believed to be suspicious and remain under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office, the release said.
