Ocean City NJ beach replenishment 2015 Dredge Repair Equipment for the south end beach replenishment project sits on the beach at 52nd Street as the hopper dredge Liberty Island gets repaired in Norfolk, Va. DATE: Tuesday, June 2 PROGRESS: As of Tuesday, the project in Ocean City, NJ remains at a standstill. Work stopped on Saturday (May 30) due to an engine problem on the hopper dredge that has been pumping new sand onto the beaches since mid-April. The Liberty Island at port in Norfolk, Va., as it awaits repairs. Army Corps officials do not yet have a target date for the return of the dredge. Equipment from the project has been consolidated to a small area at 52nd Street Beach. The first two phases of the project (from 42nd Street to 37th Street, then from 42nd Street to 47th Street) are complete.
