Amanda Nunan of Ocean City finished third in the 800-meter freestyle at Junior Nationals

The qualifying times for the U.S. Olympic Trials in women’s swimming were released on Thursday, and Ocean City High School sophomore Amanda Nunan made the cut in two events.

Nunan’s best 800-meter freestyle time of 8:42.84 easily met the standard of 8:49.99. She also met the cut in the 400-meter freestyle (4:17.99 qualifying time) with a 4:16.43.

A little more than a year and a half away, the trials will be held in Omaha, Neb., from June 26 to July 3, 2016. The Olympics begin in early August in Rio de Janeiro.

Nunan, 15, took a third place and a fifth place against the best 18-and-under swimmers in the nation at the 2014 Junior National Championships earlier this summer.
