Summer Trash-Recycling Collection Schedule Starts June 8

A trash truck makes pickups in Ocean City.

  • News
The summer trash and recycling collection schedule starts on Saturday, June 8, and continues through Saturday, Sept. 7. Please note that the first day of the new schedule is on a Saturday (while in past years, the schedule change started on Mondays). The schedule includes twice-weekly pickup:
  • Longport Bridge to north end of 9th Street: Monday and Thursday (yard waste Thursday)
  • South side of 9th Street to north side of 28th Street: Tuesday and Friday (yard waste Tuesday)
  • South side of 28th Street to 59th Street: Wednesday and Saturday (yard waste Wednesday)
Containers must be 32 gallons or less and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Recycling and yard waste cannot be placed in plastic bags and must be placed in labeled containers. Labels are available for free at City Hall (9th Street and Asbury Avenue) or the Knight Building (12th Street and Haven Avenue). Please read the '
Recycling Do's and Don'ts.' Always remember: Do not place your recycling in plastic trash bags. Place recyclables directly into containers at curbside. The regular schedule for pickup continues on Independence Day and Labor Day. The only holidays that interrupt the regular schedule in Ocean City are Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The city now provides a new service that allows residents to drop off trash and recycling at the Shelter Road Recycling Center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every Sunday. This convenience has long been requested and will serve residents who may not be at their Ocean City homes during the regularly scheduled trash and recycling pickup days during the week. This is a pilot program to address this need, and we will make revisions as necessary. The service is not designed for bulk trash or commercial operators.
