National Weather Service graphic depicts areas in New Jersey that are expected to have flooding on Saturday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for Ocean City, Strathmere and nearby coastal areas in effect from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4.
A Wind Advisory also will be in effect from 6 p.m. Friday through 4 a.m. Saturday. The NWS forecasts easterly winds of 30 to 35 mph with gusts beyond 50 mph. Heavy rainfall could contribute to flooding conditions.
Water levels are predicted to peak in the hours around high tide on the bay side (Ninth Street Bridge) of Ocean City at 6:08 a.m. Saturday. High tide on the bay side of Strathmere near Corson’s Inlet is at 5:58 a.m. Saturday.
The NWS predicts a water level of 5.7 feet on the mean low water (MLW) scale, which falls at the bottom of the NWS range for “minor” coastal flooding. Visit www.ocnj.us/octides
