Members of Ocean City’s Sons of the American Legion Post 524 went door-to-door Saturday, Dec 16, bringing holiday cheer along with boxes of candy and a personalized Christmas card to military veterans residing at United Methodist Communities -- The Shores. Thirty-one resident veterans received gifts and well-wishes from Sons Commander Mike Byerly, Second Vice Commander Dave Garbutt, Sergeant at Arms Steve Koch and legion member Chuck Friel during the service group’s annual Christmastime visit. “This is our organization’s seasonal way to say ‘Thank You for your service’ to the brave men and women who so faithfully served our country,” Byerly said. “We are always humbled to be able to meet and greet these local heroes."
