Ocean City Tabernacle welcomes singer, songwriter, author and Bible teacher Michael Card, Sunday, August 1. He will speak during the 8:30 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services and perform live in concert at 7 p.m. In a career that took off with his debut album, First Light (1981), Card has recorded more than 37 albums, authored over 27 books, hosted a radio program and written for a wide range of magazines. While he has penned such musical favorites as “El Shaddai,” “Love Crucified Arose” and “Immanuel,” he never imagined selling more than 4 million albums and writing over 19 No. 1 hits. The popularity of his work seemed in stark contrast to his goal in life, to simply and quietly teach the Bible. And even as music provided him the opportunity to share insight gained through extensive research, writing songs alone limited what he felt called to share. So he entered into book writing, where he has garnered numerous awards as well as teaching, preaching, and conference speaking, according to a Tabernacle news release. Card is a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where he earned his bachelors and master’s degrees in biblical studies. He has also received honorary PhD's in music and Christian education from Whitfield Seminary and Philadelphia Biblical University. Sunday morning services at the Tabernacle offer classes for children in nursery school through middle school. Card’s free concert begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. for first come, first served seating and a hymn sing at 6:30 p.m. For a full schedule of speakers, concerts, conferences and other events at the Ocean City Tabernacle, visit
