Mayor's Message: Feb. 19

  • News
Dear Friends, Our Community Services Department has put together a team of staff members and volunteers to help Ocean City residents who may have no or limited ability to complete the online registration or scheduling process for COVID-19 vaccinations. All 65-and-overs and residents ages 16 to 64 with medical conditions that put them at risk are currently eligible to receive the vaccine. Our team will do its best to get you an appointment, but please understand that this assistance program offers no guarantee of receiving a vaccination. Vaccine supplies remain limited. Starting Monday morning (Feb. 22), residents in need of this service can call 609-399-6111 or stop by the Ocean City Community Center, City Hall Welcome Center or 46th Street Welcome Center (limited hours) to provide the information necessary to make sure you are registered with the New Jersey State Vaccine Registration System (which will put you in line for vaccinations in Cape May County as they become available) and possibly schedule an appointment at the megasite in Atlantic City, one of the locations where vaccine supplies have been most consistent. We will attempt to schedule you for the first available appointment at the Atlantic City Convention Center, if your name is randomly chosen in the selection process for the megasite.
This form includes some of the information we will need to help you get registered and scheduled. Even if we can help only a few residents at a time, this effort will be worthwhile. I know we’re all anxious to be safe and get back to normal. I’m sad to report on the passing of two beloved citizens in town, Dr. Mary Ellen Terrels and Bart Dickinson. Mary Ellen was a family practitioner, educator, local volunteer and member of the Juliano and Terrels families known by so many in town. My brother and I grew up with Bart, who had a lifelong passion for the bay side and our boating community. Michele and I would like to extend deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mary Ellen and Bart. Warm regards, Jay A. Gillian
