By LESLEY GRAHAM  The Ocean City boys and girls swim teams defeated the visiting Dragons of Kingsway Regional Thursday afternoon at the Ocean City community aquatic center. The girls are now 8-1-1 on the year, while the boys are 8-3. Ocean City's girls won 95-75 and the boys prevailed 113-55. The girls took seven of the 11 events, while the boys won 10 out of their 11 contests. Dolan Grisbaum of the boys team broke the school record in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.09. Grisbaum was also the winner in the 200 yard individual medley. Kingsway won the first event of the afternoon, the girls 200 yard medley relay, where four girls swim two laps each of one of four strokes, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle, so they held a slight advantage.
Ocean City's Max Carter cruises to a second place finish in the 100 yard butterfly. But Ocean City was quick to regain the top of the leaderboard and held the lead for the remainder of the meet. Olivia Scherbin was a double individual winner with first place finishes in both the 100 and 200 yard freestyles. Alex Antonov also won two individual events, finishing atop the leaderboard in the 200 yard IM and the 500 yard freestyle. On the boys side, Ocean City was dominant from the start, winning the first 10 events on the afternoon. The Red Raiders swept the 100 yard butterfly with Pat Armstrong, Max Carter and Gavin Neal going one, two, three respectively. Armstrong also won the 50 yard freestyle. Steve Gooden also won two individual events on the day, winning both the 200 and 500 yard freestyle. Both team's coaches were happy with the performances of their swimmers. “With a quick turnaround (from our meet on Tuesday) it was great to see the kids put in another strong performance this week,” said Shane McGrath, head coach for the boys program. “Super-excited for Dolan (Grisbaum) as well for breaking the school record after all the consistent hard work he puts in,” McGrath added after the meet. Ian Keyser, the girls head coach, echoed McGrath’s sentiments. “I’m very proud of how the team swam today. It was a total team effort to secure the victory for us,” said Keyser. The Red Raiders are on a dominant win streak, with strong showings and large-margin victories in their last five dual meets for both programs. A tight race at the start of the boys 100 yard freestyle.
