An Ocean City woman is under arrest for allegedly running a house of prostitution out of the L&G Massage Spa in Ocean City. Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Acting Ocean City Chief Jay Prettyman announced Monday the arrest of Grace Li, 61, the spa's operator, on prostitution-related charges. A joint investigation revealed customers could purchase sexual acts from women inside the spa, which is located at 508 E. Ninth Street, according to a press release from the Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities began looking into the spa in July of 2018 when Ocean City police received information of prostitution occurring inside the business, the release said. As a result of the investigation, on Dec. 13 a search warrant was executed at the L&G Massage Spa. Li, of the 500 block of Ninth Street, was charged with managing a house of prostitution, a crime of the third degree. Li was processed and released on a summons, pending further court proceedings. If convicted of a third degree crime, she faces three to five years in state prison, Sutherland said.
Attempts to reach Li for comment were unsuccessful. Detectives with the Ocean City Police Department, Cape May County Prosecutor's Office, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) worked on the investigation. Sutherland said there is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may follow. Anyone who has information relating to this investigation is urged to contact the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office at 609-465-1135 or the Ocean City Police Department at 609-399-9111.
