By Maddy Vitale    Competition is revving up between two realtors – Pete Madden and Patrick Halliday. But it has nothing to do with house sales. The two businessmen from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices are sponsoring a holiday decorating contest through Dec. 21. Both homes and businesses can participate. Madden and Halliday are hoping for some friendly competition to get the community into the festive spirit. The contest winner will receive a $250 American Express gift card. They’re encouraging people to adorn their homes or businesses in colored, white, flashing or twinkling lights, or any other kind of Christmas glitz and decorations. But don’t expect any real good hints as to what Madden is looking for. However, his wife, Ashley, said she has an idea what he might see as the best decorated home or business. “He probably would like something creative. I know if Pete has any say in it, it would be over the top. Something outside the box,” she said with a laugh.
Business owners are asked to join in the friendly competition. Patrick Halliday said the contest is really meant to be a lot of fun for the community. “This is a fun, friendly competition, encouraging everyone to enjoy the holiday season and show their holiday spirit,” Halliday said. Ashley Madden is in charge of posting all of the submitted photos on the Facebook pages and on Instagram for both Madden and Halliday. For anyone interested in joining in a little competition, they should email photos of their decorated homes or businesses to [email protected] Ashley Madden said the gift card is an extra incentive for people who devote the time and effort into making their house shine or business stand out with a festive motif over the holidays. She added it is also an excellent way to showcase a property that a homeowner or business owner plans on selling. The winner will be chosen Dec. 21.
