OC Kids Raise Over $2,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Over Memorial Day Weekend in Anticipation for “Dancing For Hailey”

  • News
If you were in OC on Memorial Day Weekend, chances are you saw a lemonade stand hosted by Ocean City Primary and Intermediate School students. With over 10 locations around the city, a group that calls themselves ‘The Lemonade Crusaders’ raised over $2,000 selling lemonade, homemade baked goods and snacks donated by Pirate’s Booty. But the Memorial Day Lemonade Stand blitz was just a precursor to a much bigger event on Saturday June 10 right here in Ocean City. The Lemonade Crusaders will host the 2nd Annual “Dancing For Hailey” event on 8th street between Ocean and Wesley Avenues from 11AM – 1PM. This unique event is the quintessential Ocean City event – a day of family fun for a good cause. The street will be closed off so that kids can have a huge dance party and lemonade stand. The event features:
  • DJ and Dancing lead by The Dance Place
  • Free Yoasis Treats for each dancer
  • Lemonade Stand
  • OCFD Fire Truck
  • Hot Dogs from Varsity Inn, Pretzels from EHT Philly Pretzel Company and Donuts from Dot’s Pastries
  • Mermaid and Pirate Face Painting by Bowfish Kids
  • Nail Painting by e11even studio salon
  • Flower Crown Making by Bohemian Mama
  • Wood Painting by Peace of Wood
  • Photo Booth
  • Appearances by the Nor’Easters and OC Celebrities
  • Silent Auction where adults and kids can bid on anything from a new bike or skateboard, a week of Dance Camp, or even a beachfront room at Port-O-Call, just to name a few….
And much, much more! All of the money raised will be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, an organization that raises funds and awareness for childhood cancer research, in memory of Hailey Parker. Hailey Parker was an 11 year old OC summer resident who loved to dance and loved ice cream. She lost her battle to brain cancer in October 2015, and her friends organize this event to remember her and the things she loved in a town she loved. The suggested donation for entry is $10 and entry bracelets can be purchased in advance at Yoasis, The Dance Place or on-site at the event.
