Brown, Richard W. 86 of Palermo, NJ passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Autumn Lake Center in Ocean View, NJ. Born in Edwardsville,PA, he was a resident of Ocean City, NJ for 40 years before moving to Palermo in 2005. He was a graduate of Kingston High School class of 1948 and Wilkes College, class of 1958 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce and Finance. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War from 1949 until his honorable discharge in 1954. Mr. Brown had a career in banking and during his career, he was employed as a Bank Examiner for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and retired as Vice President of First Union Bank. He served as Past President of the Cape May County Bankers Association, the Atlantic Chapter of the American Institute of Banking and the Southern New Jersey Chapter of the Bank Administration Institute. He was a member of Kingston Lodge #395 F. & A. M., the Jaycees and the Civil Defense Administration of Ocean City, NJ. Surviving are his wife, Patricia A. Brown (nee Skipalis) of Palermo, NJ, two sons, Craig Brown (Caroline Cole) of West Orange, NJ, Carl Brown (Susan Fisher-Brown) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, a daughter, Karen Ermelin (Brian) of Petersburg, NJ, 11 grandchildren, Kyle, Trevor, Jessica, Rachael, Logan, Adam, Mason, Adrienne, Cassidy, Taylor and Spencer. He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth C. Brown in 2008, a daughter-in-law, Karen Westcott, two brothers, Kenneth Brown, Donald J. Brown and a sister, Elaine Schollenberger. Friends may call Monday morning from 10 o’clock until 12 o’clock with a Masonic Funeral Service offered at 11 o’clock and a Christian Funeral service at 12 o’clock, all at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ. Burial will follow in Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Cape May Court House, NJ.
