Coastal Storm Threatens Weekend Plans

Our stretch of dry, pleasant weather has come to an end. A Coastal Storm is expected to put a damper for the first half of Mother's Day weekend. For anyone making outdoor plans this weekend, Saturday is wetter, Sunday is better! Now through Saturday a good deal of clouds and a steady flow of east winds will keep temperatures in the 50s. Expect some rain Thursday and much more rain on Saturday. A band rain to our south & west will move into our area Thursday. A period of rain is expected this afternoon but should remain light. Friday is expected to be a mainly dry day as the low pressure system begins to take shape in the Tennessee Valley. Some breaks of sun is possible but it will remain on the cool side. Satellite Forecast for Friday still shows considerable clouds but some breaks of sun are possible. (Courtesy:tropicaltidbits.com) Rain will arrive first thing Saturday morning and continue throughout the day. Rain will be heavy at times with a rumble of thunder possible. It will be breezy on Saturday as well, winds will be quite busy out of the east 20-25mph.

With the steady onshore winds and developing coastal storm, tides will run higher but should remain at or just below flood stage. The greater threat of coastal flooding will be north of Atlantic City. However, street flooding on the islands is expected as heavy rains will fill up the usual areas. Brighter Mother's Day.. The good news that Mother's Day is looking dry and milder. However, it will be windy as the coastal storm intensifies offshore.
