14th Street Pier on Friday. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Ocean City from late tonight through 6am Friday for light accumulation snow which will make roads and sidewalks slippery. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Atlantic & Cape May Counties for more snow accumulations for Saturday. This week we have been following 2 separate snow events. The 1st low pressure system will develop off of North Carolina tonight and quickly move offshore. Precipitation could begin as rain especially if it starts before midnight. Steadier snow will fall after midnight and end just by sunrise. hrrr_ref_frzn_neus_17aComputer model shows snow overnight tonight. Snow amounts will generally be around 1”-2” with highest snow totals in New Jersey along the coast in Ocean County where around 3” could accumulate.  stormtotalsnowweb1 The 2nd low pressure system is a different animal altogether. There is plenty of moisture associated with this system coming out of the Gulf of Mexico which will cause major problems in Georgia and the Carolinas with significant snow and ice. For us, the biggest question has been how far north will the moisture get to our area. Models have been inconsistent for several days on whether the snow will affect us on Saturday. Latest computer models are now hinting that this storm will take a track closer to our coastline which means more snow could affect our area. Keep in mind there is a sharp cutoff with this storm. The slightest shift in track will determine whether we see no snow or several inches. gfs_mslp_pcpn_frzn_neus_9Most computer models now agree that snow should at least graze the coast which could give us another shot of accumulating snow on Saturday.(Courtesy:tropicaltidbits.com) OCNJ Daily will keep you updated!
