Pipes.25SEA ISLE CITY’S 2016 SAINT PATRICK’S DAY PARADE, "BEST DRESSED" COMPETITION, AND IRISH CELEBRATION TAKE PLACE MARCH 12

On Saturday, March 12, Sea Isle City’s 26th Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Landis Avenue (83rd Street to 63rd Street), hosted by Mayor Leonard Desiderio and his family. On the morning of March 12, Mayor Desiderio will paint a bright green stripe down the middle of Landis Avenue, which will make the parade route extra-festive.  Mayor Desiderio is the only known mayor who annually paints a green stripe along his town’s main street for a Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.  Prior to the start of the parade, Mayor Desiderio will host a “Best Dressed” competition at 2:00 p.m. on March 12 inside Kix-McNutley’s on 63rd Street. The contest is open to all residents and visitors.  Prizes will be awarded to the contest’s winners in two categories: “Best Dressed Irish Individual” and “Best Dressed Irish Group.”  Each contestant in the competition will be invited to walk in this year’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. In addition to countless green-clad spectators lining the parade route, the annual Irish procession will feature a variety of eye-catching participants, including the Cape Atlantic Police & Fire Irish Pipe Brigade,
the Ancient Order of Hibernians Color Guard, and many representatives from local Irish families.  The parade will also feature local businesses, VFW Post 1963, scout troops, floats, beauty queens and numerous Municipal, County and State officials, including the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department Explorers, Dodge the Sheriff’s Horse, and McGruff the Crime-Fighting Dog and Eddie the Eagle mascots.  Spectators will also enjoy seeing Sea Isle’s 2016 “Irish Royal Family,” as well as Deacon Joseph Murphy and his wife Linda, from Saint Joseph Catholic Church, who will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshals.   Immediately following the parade, the public is invited to attend an Irish Celebration at Kix-McNutley’s.  The annual gathering, which is also hosted by Mayor Desiderio and his family, will feature additional live music by the Cape Atlantic Police & Fire Irish Pipe Brigade as well as plenty of dancing and socializing.  For more information about Sea Isle’s 2016 Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Celebration, phone 609-263-4461 (ext.1230) or 609-263-6341 – or visit www.kixmcnutleys.com
