OCNJDaily's Mike DeVlieger (right) interviews Scott Patterson prior to Patterson's concert with his band, Gordon, at the Bill and Nancy Hughes Performing Arts Center at Ocean City High School, set for August 13, It’s been “a while” since Scott Patterson’s last trip to Ocean City, “and that’s too bad,” the “Gilmore Girls” actor said on Thursday. “I feel bad about that,” he said. But Patterson, who will do a benefit concert with his band, Gordon, August 13, 7 p.m. at the Bill and Nancy Hughes Performing Art Center at Ocean City High School, is making up for lost time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6nDJEc6S3k “We’re headed to the beach, if there’s any sunlight left,” Patterson said during a break in a rehearsal. Patterson has been coming to Ocean City and other South Jersey shore resorts since he was a small child, he said. “Sea Isle City is another place where I spent a lot of time,” he said.  “My parents would rent a place down here every summer and I just loved it,” he said. His passion for the Shore was so intense, he and his friends would pedal their bikes all the way from his boyhood home of Haddonfield, Patterson said. “That’s not going to happen anymore… maybe on a motorcycle,” he laughed. Patterson’s band was in rare form during the Thursday rehearsal. Gordon plays all original material Scott wrote himself.  It is loud, hard-driving rock with a heavy blues influence. Tickets for the show are priced $20 each and are available at
www.ocnj.us/boxoffice. A portion of the show proceeds will benefit OCNJ CARE.  Separate tickets for a pre-concert intimate VIP acoustic session at 6 p.m. at the High School Community Room are $50, and a post-concert VIP meet-and-greet that includes a selfie and autograph with Patterson are $50 each. In the meantime, readers might just bump into Scott around town. Patterson said he was a surfer and might take advantage if there are waves, and also inquired about renting a jet ski and cruising around the bay. Then he took it one step further. “I’m looking into purchasing a home here. I looked around and the prices are, like, ‘hello…’ but maybe we can work something out. I would love to own a house here.”
