Angelus Chorus Performs Free Spring Concert on Wednesday

  • Things To Do
The Angelus Chorus performed a Christmas Concert at the Ocean City Tabernacle and will give a free spring concert 7 p.m. Wednesday (May 20) at St. Peter's United Methodist Church. The 60-voice Angelus Chorus, directed by Richard Stanislaw, will present its spring concert 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Eighth Street and Central Avenue. Admission is free. The Chorus has been featured in the artist series at Cape May Convention Center, but this is their only appearance in Ocean City. Repertoire includes Faure's Cantique de Jean Racine and classics by Mozart — the Gloria from 12th Mass and Mozart's only composition in English, a motet he wrote when he visited London at age 9.  Just as classic is a medley of Irving Berlin favorites. Other selections include Sting's "Fields of Gold," a couple of Spirituals, and the southern gospel "Have a Little Talk with Jesus." The Angelus Chorus is completing its 51st year of concerts in Cape May County. It began as a small group of people singing for the Angelus Nursing Facility, and even though the Angelus Home has closed, the chorus has continued and grown.
