The beaches at 55th Street and 54th Street in Ocean City, NJ are high and wide on Sunday, May 17, as the south end beach replenishment project continues.
DATE: Sunday, May 17
PROGRESS: Sand-pumping operations that began on 55th Street last week are now past 54th Street — with the eroded beaches there now showing a dramatic change. Excavators are also working on the makeshift sand berm, digging up old sand fence in advance of work to rebuild dunes there. Access to the beach is closed at 55th Street and 54th Street, and work should reach 53rd Street at some time on Monday. The second phase of the south end beach replenishment project is now complete at St. David’s Place (between 47th and 48th streets).
WHAT’S NEXT: The project will proceed from 55th Street to St. David’s Place (mid-May to mid-June), then from 55th to 59th (mid-June to mid-July).
