Families and individuals are invited to compete in an informal Sand Sculpting Contest starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, on the beach at Sixth Street.
Emily Daprato, 8, of Northfield wins the category for ages 6-8 in the 2014 contest.
No experience necessary — just bring buckets, shovels and imaginations.
Plaques and ribbons will be awarded in categories for sculptors 5-and-under, 6 to 8 years, 9 to 12 years, teens, single adult and family.
The annual Freckle Contest — for real and painted-on freckles — starts with a 6 p.m. registration at the Ocean City Music Pier (Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace). The contest begins at 6:30 p.m. in front of the pier. The contest is free to enter. Ribbons awarded.
