The wind chill forecast for Sunday, Feb. 15, puts Ocean City in a zone near or below zero degrees. The National Weather Service issued a “High Wind Watch” in effect for Ocean City from Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon. The forecast calls for sustained northwest winds of 25 to 40 mph with gusts of 50 to 60 mph possible. The highest winds are expected to occur Saturday night and Sunday morning. The NWS watch warns that power outages could be possible if winds of that magnitude occur. At the same time, temperatures are expected to plummet, and a winter storm could add 1 to 2 inches of snow Saturday evening and Saturday night. The high temperature on Saturday is expected to reach 40 degrees but fall to 15 degrees overnight. With a high of 19 degrees on Sunday and continued high winds, the wind chill value could fall to -7 degrees. The cold will continue into Monday with a high of 21 degrees. With new moon tides not arriving until Wednesday (Feb. 18) and the high winds blowing offshore, tidal flooding is not expected to be an issue.
