Miss Crustacean 1 Julie and Nadia Marzano, Emily and Maura McCarthy join their hermit crab in costume to win the annual Miss Crustacean Pageant for the third year in a row. It's been a "Jeopardy" question and now it's home to a triple crown. Ocean City's distinctive Miss Crustacean Pageant crowned its first three-time winner on Wednesday. Julie Marzano and her five-year-old daughter, Nadia, and Emily McCarthy and her four-year-old daughter Maura created the winning entry for the third consecutive year in a pageant that calls for hermit crabs to be displayed in elaborate dioramas. The "The Wicked Pinch of the West," in which hermit crabs starred in a "Wizard of Oz" scene, won top prize in the pageant. The same families won honors last year with Pinchess Leia and a ‘Crab Wars’ theme. The "Wicked Pinch" was awarded the coveted Cucumber Rind Cup as Shelly the Mermaid serenaded the contestants with a signature song for the occasion. "Ocean City is the only place in the world where you'll see a crustacean beauty pageant," Public Relations Director Mark Soifer told the small boardwalk crowd gathered to watch the event.
