After two days of tests that began on Saturday morning (June 14) and included a half-mile ocean swim, a half-mile run on the Ocean City High School track, a 50- to 75-yard surf dash, a 150-yard row in the bay and an interview, 24 men and five women were selected from a field of about 45 applicants for the 2014 Ocean City Beach Patrol rookie class.
OCBP hiring is competitive and based on the two-day tryout.
