A project to improve drainage in the flood-prone Merion Park section of Ocean City is nearly complete.
The following is Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian’s weekly update to citizens posted on Friday, Nov. 14.
Dear Friends,
I would like to provide an update on several capital improvement projects.
The road and drainage project in Merion Park is nearly completed.  We are working on the final steps to install the pump equipment and provide electricity to them, while finishing up some small items.  I would like to again thank all of the residents of the neighborhood as they continue to share their input with us during the project.
We heard today that the county is progressing on schedule with the Bay Avenue project.  If all goes as scheduled, 6th to 9th Street will be completed soon, and 9th to 12th will be completed before the Christmas holidays.  We also received an update from the county on the restriping of West Avenue south of 34th Street.  The City should be receiving a final report on the most recent traffic count shortly with a potential project in the spring, completed prior to Memorial Day.
The next stage of the boardwalk project is also progressing on time. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation with the detour and we are optimistic that the job will be finished by the end of March.  I will continue to keep everyone updated on all of these projects.
Lastly, I would like to thank City Council, the Downtown Merchants, the Chamber of Commerce and the City team members who work diligently this week to reschedule the Christmas Parade.  I ask that everyone supports our local businesses this holiday season and please join me in helping to make this year’s Christmas Parade a success for our entire Community.
Thank you and have a great weekend.
Warm regards,
Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
