Three of the 12 contestants in Ocean City’s Dog of the Year Contest. A winner will be named on Saturday, Nov. 8.

The naming of Ocean City’s Dog of the Year — which was postponed last Saturday due to heavy rain — will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 8) in the parking lots at the Tahiti Inn, 1125 Ocean Avenue.

The public is invited to bring their pets to the event. Admission is free.

The public has been voting in the Dog of the Year Contest for months now.

The dogs’ pictures have been featured on the Ocean City Boardwalk and in stores throughout the community, and folks have been voting with charitable donations on behalf of their favorites. The owners of the 12 entrants have been donating and collecting cash in honor of their doggies.

All of this cash benefits a good cause, the Ocean City Dog Park. Here dogs can frolic and fraternize in a safe environment, while their owners relax. It’s a win-win situation for all involved.

The new Dog of the Year will be named in the ceremony on Saturday.

There will be a silent auction. Information about the Dog Park will be available. The public is invited and may bring their pets to view this exciting, canine spectacle. There will be music.

The Ocean City Humane Society will have an adoption table on site. Calendars will be available for sale with photos of all 12 contestants. Admission is free.
