Tickets are still available for the Ocean City Historical Museum’s Christmas trolley ride on Friday, Dec. 12.
Starting from the museum (at the Ocean City Community Center, 17th Street and Simpson Avenue), guests will ride through the downtown singing carols all the way, led by Richard Stanislaw, the museum's board president. Asbury Avenue merchants board the trolley sharing gifts and invitations.
The trolley winds its way past lights and decorations into the Historic District where John Loeper, a leading preservationist in Ocean City, describes architectural styles and periods. With his full white beard, he may even be mistaken for another famous Christmas character.
The trolley returns to the museum for a display of vintage Christmas decorations assembled by Mary Ann Gring. The Ocean City Santa Claus makes an appearance as everyone enjoys hot spiced cider (an historic recipe, of course) and other seasonal treats prepared by Executive Director Jeff McGranahan and his assistant Noel Wirth.
Tickets are still available for the two trolley tours, one leaving at 6 p.m. and the other at 7:30 p.m. when the first ride returns with its passengers. The festive museum is enjoyed before and after each.
Advance reservations are required, but discount coupons are available at the museum. Tickets are $20 per person for members ($30 for non-members) and are available at the Museum (in the Community Center, 1735 Simpson) or by phone with a credit card (609.399.1801).
