The 90-year-old former drummer for Bill Haley and His Comets joins a new band, The Ready Rockers, to perform a benefit concert on Tuesday in Ocean City.

The concert helps a scholarship fund named in memory of his daughter.

Dick Richards of Comets fame will take the stage at the Moorlyn Family Theatre with Walter “Wally” Bucks and Tom Gargan. The band will play hits from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.

The Betsy Young Memorial Fund sponsors the concert, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the Moorlyn, Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace (between Eighth and Ninth streets).

Opening act is the Brandon Ireland Band, and local band Diamonds & Rust will play perform an intermission set.

Tickets are $25 and are available online at www.moorlynfamilytheatre.org and also the day of the event until 6 p.m.

The Betsy Young Memorial Fund is named for Richards’ daughter, a beloved Ocean City Intermediate School music teacher, who died of cancer in 2011.
