[gview file="https://accessglobal.media.clients.ellingtoncms.com/siteimports/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Skatepark-5th-Street-2014.pdf"] Ocean City Council will give the public an opportunity to express their views on a proposed skate park site during a workshop 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (April 3) in the auditorium at the Ocean City Free Public Library (17th Street and Simpson Avenue). The  meeting will seek feedback on a plan to create a park on a portion of the parking lot adjacent to the Ocean City Fire Department on the 500 block of Asbury Avenue (see tentative site map above). Councilman Mike DeVlieger said he hopes all views on the proposal will be represented at the forum. Councilman Antwan McClellan will host a separate public meeting to discuss the skate park 10 a.m. to noon Saturday (April 5) at the Eighth Street Recreation Center (Eighth Street and Haven Avenue). The city dismantled a park near Sixth Street and the Ocean City Boardwalk in 2011, citing safety concerns over deteriorating equipment. That park had opened in 2002 at a cost of a little more than $130,000. Since then, the city administration has promised to rebuild the park, and City Council has approved a capital plan that calls for spending $250,000 on the project. A group of city officials and community members has proposed raising money through grants and donations to build a concrete park that could cost as much as three times as much — and stand the test of time.
