The Ocean City School District will show off the talents of the community’s young artists at an Arts Showcase on Saturday, May 9, at the Ocean City Music Pier.
Presented by Ocean City primary, intermediate and high school students, the event will feature an eclectic mix of creative works and live performances.
Admission is free, allowing everyone the opportunity to support and appreciate the artistic endeavors of the students.
The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a special reception and recognition ceremony scheduled from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Visitors can also enjoy the interactive Makers Corner, where guests of all ages are invited to participate in hands-on art-making activities.
Live performances will take place throughout the day, featuring student musicians including Jack McAllister (rhythm guitar and vocals), Aiden Hackett (lead guitar), Jack Chickadel (lead guitar), and a second group with Cooper Lloyd (guitar/vocals), Ryan Shelton (drums), and Miles Reischke (bass). The High School Dance Team will also showcase their talent with a special performance.
Prints and student works will be available for a donation to scholarships and student art programs.
The event is sponsored by the City of Ocean City and the Ocean City Free Public Library with the help of local businesses.
Parking will be free at municipal lots at Eighth Street, Moorlyn Terrace and Ninth Street.
Also this weekend, the Spring Cruisin’ the Boards Car Show will feature a variety of cars from 1990 and newer on display from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on the Boardwalk from 6th Street to 14th Street.
The cars will parade onto the Boardwalk starting at 11:45 p.m. A trophy presentation will take place at the Music Pier at 4 p.m. For more information, visit cruisintheboards.com or email [email protected].
New “Shootout for Soldiers” lacrosse event coming to Ocean City:
“Shootout for Soldiers,” which uses the game of lacrosse to bring the community together and raise funds and awareness for veterans, is coming to Ocean City’s Carey Stadium on June 13.
The event is a community-wide festival dedicated to supporting those who have served the country.
The event is looking for teams of all ages and skill levels to hit the field for informal games of all types. It’s also open to individuals who don’t have a full team but would be matched with one.
Activities for the entire family, including games and inflatables, will also be part of the event.
