It's time.

The Flyers announced on Sunday afternoon that they have signed 2025 first round draft pick Porter Martone to his three-year, entry level contract.

Martone signed mere hours after his team at Michigan State was upset in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament by Big 10 rival Wisconsin.

Martone is en route to Philadelphia and should arrive at Xfinity Mobile Arena at some point on Sunday during the team's game against the Dallas Stars.

Martone will play for the Flyers as soon as possible - most likely making his NHL debut Tuesday in Washington, although there is a slim possibility that the coaches will want him to practice with the team before playing in a game, and since the Flyers have an off day Monday, he could take the next two days to assimilate.

However, now that the Flyers have clawed back within three points of a playoff spot, Martone's scoring ability could be a boost for the team in the final nine games, so they may want to maximize the number of games he can play for them in their pursuit of the postseason.

Martone, 19, who was drafted by the Flyers No. 6 overall, finished with 50 points (25 goals, 25 assists) and 78 penalty minutes in just 35 games with the Spartans.

Martone was fourth in college hockey in scoring but played fewer games than most. He also captained Team Canada at the 2026 World Junior Championships, where he won a bronze medal.

While Martone needs to improve his skating, the rest of his game is NHL-ready.

He plays with an edge, but he has a high hockey IQ and he is a sniper, with a nasty, accurate shot.

The Flyers won't wait long to let the rest of the hockey world see it.
