Shore Medical Center announced that it is expanding its nursing recruitment efforts and strengthening staffing by continuing to address staffing issues and investments in workplace safety.
A key focus of the initiative is the hospital-employed nursing workforce. Third-party nursing agency staffing will only be utilized when necessary to address seasonal fluctuations or unforeseen surges in patient volume.
“We’ve made a very intentional decision to invest in our team,” Vince Azzarello, Shore’s vice president of Human Resources, said in a news release. “Over time, we’ve eliminated more than 83 percent of nursing agency positions, and remaining agency nurses will stay through the end of their current agreements. Our goal is to have the vast majority of our nurses employed directly by Shore. This consistency strengthens teamwork, improves continuity of care, and reinforces the culture our patients value and trust.”
