Atlantic City's own "Dark Knight" got a ray of sunshine.
An aggravated assault charge filed against Curtis Bordley has been dismissed.
Better known to visitors and residents as the city's own Batman, Bordley was arrested in August after he allegedly pepper-sprayed a man.
Bordley, 34, claimed he reacted after the man spit in his mouth during a confrontation.
"Mr. Bordley was assaulted and attacked first," his attorney, Durann Neil, previously told BreakingAC. "He acted only in self-defense and attempted to avoid any conflict. We are confident that charges will soon be issued against the true aggressor, as Mr. Bordley is innocent."
The victim temporarily lost his vision, according to the charges.
Bordley said in a Facebook post that he fell off his bike near the alleged victim, who then "spit in my mouth," so Bordley "snapped and pepper-sprayed him, then got locked up," he wrote. "Can't win with this city."
Many learned of the arrest via the Facebook page Scan AtlanticCity.
"Batman arrested in Atlantic City," the post read.
The support for the local Caped Crusader was overwhelming, as many shared their own interactions with Bordley, including photos with him in costume bringing joy to adults and children alike.
Atlantic City attorney Neil took on the case, waiving a court hearing set for September as he worked to have the charges dismissed.
The move was made Jan. 6, with the attorney receiving official notification Friday that the case was dismissed.
"We are pleased that this matter has been dismissed and appreciate the professionalism of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office in carefully reviewing the facts," Neil told BreakingAC. "The justice system worked as it should, and the truth ultimately prevailed."
"Curtis has always been a positive presence in the community, bringing smiles to thousands of people in Atlantic City," he continued. "We are grateful he can now continue that work without this matter hanging over him."
