Dear Friends,
I’m holding a town hall meeting at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday, April 11) in the lecture hall at the Ocean City Free Public Library (1735 Simpson Avenue), and I hope to see you there.
I will be able to share news regarding beach replenishment, Boardwalk reconstruction and bayside dredging. I’ll provide updates on downtown lighting and parking initiatives, our neighborhood flood mitigation program, and ongoing county and utility company projects.
We’ll also look at some exciting new improvements starting within the next year. There will be time for questions and answers, and video will be available after the meeting.
As part of construction work to improve reliability, Atlantic City Electric will conduct two planned electrical service interruptions next week. The first will be between midnight and 2 a.m. on Monday, April 13. The second will be between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14. During this time, residents will experience a brief outage lasting up to 15 minutes. Please make any necessary preparations for the planned outage. Scheduling is subject to change based on weather and other system factors.
The new parking area adjacent to the Ocean City Free Public Library will be closed for paving starting on Monday, April 13. Please do not park there until the work is complete.
I was honored to help two of Ocean City’s finest citizens celebrate recent birthdays. Patsy Burns turned 95, and Rosalie Klamo turned 100. I want to wish both of these remarkable women continued health and happiness.
Ocean City will welcome Girls Weekend on downtown Asbury Avenue, and up on the Boardwalk, the Music Pier will be host to the OC CON Comic Book & Memorabilia Show. More information is available here. I hope you get a chance to check out these events and enjoy all that Ocean City has to offer. Check out this week's "Inside City Hall" video below.
Warm regards, Mayor Jay A. Gillian
