The Ocean City Beach Patrol urges bathers to swim only at guarded beaches.
The number of beaches protected by the Ocean City Beach Patrol will be cut back after Labor Day weekend, the traditional end of the summer vacation season.
The Beach Patrol urges beachgoers to swim only at beaches where lifeguards are present. Lifeguards generally are on duty from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekends and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Some beaches have lifeguard protection as late as 7 p.m.
Following is a list of beaches that are currently guarded and the ones that will not have lifeguard protection starting Sept. 2:
- Surf Road: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- Atlantic (Beach Road at Morningside): Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- North Street: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- St. Charles Place: Guarded up until Sunday, Sept. 14
- Brighton Place: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- 8th Street: Guarded until 7 p.m. Guarded up until Sunday, Sept. 14
- 9th Street: Guarded until 7 p.m. Guarded up until Sunday, Sept. 14
- 10th Street: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- 11th Street: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- 12th Street: Guarded until 7 p.m. Guarded up until Sunday, Sept. 14
- 26th Street: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- 30th Street: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- 34th Street: Guarded until 7 p.m. Guarded up until Sunday, Sept. 14
- 36th Street: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- 39th Street: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- 44th Street: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- 50th Street: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- 55th Street: Unguarded starting Sept. 2
- 58th Street: Guarded up until Sunday, Sept. 14
The Beach Patrol anticipates that the last day of guarded beaches for the 2025 season will be Sunday, Sept. 14.
Lifeguard stands may not be exactly at street ends as guards will place the stand in the safest area depending on water conditions.
