The Ocean City Board of Realtors has announced the start of its fall community clothing drive to collect coats, sweaters, scarves, hats and other chilly weather items.
Donations will be collected now through Friday, Nov. 21, and will be used to give the gift of warmth to those in need in Ocean City.
The Warmth for the Winter Drive will collect gently used or new items. Needed most are clothes and coats for men, hats, scarves, gloves and socks. Hats, gloves, coats and scarves for children are needed as well. Blankets, sheets and comforters are also requested.
Donors are invited to clean out their closets at home and help others in the process.
“Would you be willing to sort through your unwanted clothing and set aside items that still have some use?” the Board of Realtors said in a news release Monday.
The mission of the Ocean City Ecumenical Clothes Closet is to give free, clean, and gently used or new seasonal clothing to men, women, and children living in Ocean City.
The donations can make a significant difference to individuals or families struggling to afford these essentials.
Donations may be dropped off at the office of the Board of Realtors at 405 22nd Street, Ocean City. Office hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is requested that all donations are placed in a plastic bag.
“Gently used or new donations will provide warmth for the winter to families in need. It’s time to switch over your wardrobe from summer to winter. We encourage our fellow realtors, friends and neighbors to donate items” said Gloria Votta, chair of the Community Services Committee for the Ocean City Board of Realtors.
