Free Lecture on Emergency Preparedness Set for Oct. 7 in Ocean City

Ocean City, a low-lying barrier island, is vulnerable to flooding from coastal storms.

The Ocean City Environmental Commission will sponsor a free presentation on emergency preparedness at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7.

It will be held in the Chris Maloney Lecture Hall at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave.

Ocean City Emergency Management Director Frank Donato will speak on how to stay safe and informed during hurricanes, winter and summer storms, and other emergencies.

His presentation will touch on lessons learned from Hurricane Erin, a recent significant flooding event that came with no rain or storm overhead.

He will show information resources (including www.ocnj.us) that anybody can use to anticipate and prepare for flooding events.

Members of the public are invited to attend.
