Members of the public are invited to Ocean City’s annual Memorial Day ceremony to honor fallen military veterans and Gold Star Mothers.
The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Veterans Memorial Park, between 5th Street and 6th Street on Wesley Avenue.
The city will pay tribute to Gold Star Mothers and unveil a chair of honor recognizing their sacrifices. The ceremony will also honor a 100-year-old World War II veteran who has a house in town.
The Gold Star Mothers will also be on hand at 9 a.m. Monday to help city officials and veterans raise the American flag at the Music Pier.
Also Monday, Ocean City will participate in the National Moment of Remembrance. Americans, wherever they are at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day, pause in an act of national unity for one minute. Ocean City’s moment of remembrance will take place on the Boardwalk.
