Dear Friends,
The HVAC work at the Ocean City Free Public Library is complete, and it reopened on Monday. The work now moves to the Historical Museum, which will remain closed for about two weeks.
The pool project remains on schedule. It has been plastered and filled with water. Work on the final phase, placement of the new decking surface, is underway.
The Merion Park flood mitigation project remains on schedule. Three of the five crossovers under Roosevelt Boulevard from the neighborhood to the outfalls on the other side of the road are now complete. When the contractor gets to the last one near the 34th Street Bridge, probably sometime next week, there will be an alternating single-lane traffic pattern in place.
Work on a major road project encompassing several roadways between 18th Street and 33rd Street is now underway.
The annual Run for the Fallen traveled through Ocean City yesterday afternoon. The event honors New Jersey service members who died during the Global War on Terrorism. A team of military personnel runs more than 190 miles throughout New Jersey as part of the event.
I want to thank our American Legion Post 524 for hosting a dinner for the runners and Gold Star Families after yesterday’s run. I’m always proud to see Ocean City support our nation’s veterans.
The MS Bike Ride is coming into Ocean City on Saturday, Sept. 28, over the 34th Street Bridge and then proceeding down West Avenue toward a finish at Fifth Street and Boardwalk.
The 34th Street Bridge will be limited to a single lane of vehicle traffic with an alternating pattern from about 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please be prepared for delays and plan alternate routes, if possible.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Warm regards,
Mayor Jay A. Gillian
